Hi, I’m Fumi.
What’s up?

I tell you old tradition in Japan.
Today’s theme is Shichi-go-san.

Japanese traditional clothes, kimono for children or kids

We celebrate the healthy growth of children as they turn 3,7 year-old girls and 5 year-old boys.

Nowadays, we don’t wear kimono everyday.
But these children wear kimono and their family take them to a shrine.

I have a daughter.
First of all, I tell you what we did when she was 3 years old.

go to shrine with family

My parents, in law parents and my family went to a shrine.
I wore a nice dress and my daughter wore lovely kimono that I wore when I was 3 years old. My mom kept it for a long time!

After praying for her healthy growth, we went to a restaurant and enjoyed lunch.
Next, I tell you what we did when she was 7 years old.

She didn’t wear kimono at a shrine.
We don’t care about that.
There’s no rule to wear kimono.

Traditional Japanese Fashions, costume

We took her to a photo studio.
They have various kinds of kimono and dress.
She wore fancy kimono and adorable dress. She had a big smile during shooting.

Finally, if you visit Japan in November, you will see kids wearing kimono.
They are so adorable!
